Publishers advance review copy with slip laid in.  Flawless, apparently unread,  book is clean, bright square and unmarked.  White jacket has a hint of toning, small crease on front flap, two miniscule closed tears on rear panel.  Willeford's portrayal of the pretensions, absurdities, and intrigues of the contemporary art scene, not to mention a first rate crime story.  Willeford studied painting in France for a time. Herron (9b) Flat cardstock sheet which was intended to be cover for the Dennis McMillan publication of UNDERSTUDY FOR DEATH, a reprint of Willeford's very scarce PBO, UNDERSTUDY FOR LOVE.  The book was never published, apparently due to contractual difficulties.  This title is listed in the bibliography of Don Herron's WILLEFORD as a "ghost edition."  The cover, with Joe Servello art, was printed in advance.  In Fine condition, a unique item for the Willeford completeist

Signed  by Willeford on the title page.   Two corners bumped, strip of tape the length of the title page apparently to reinforce small tear; else clean, square adn unmarked.  Jacket has some light wrinkling at the exremities else Fine.  The third of four Hoke Mosely's, published a year before his untimely death.  Largely unappreciated most of his career,  Willeford, tragically, died just as he was begining to receive the recognition he deserved.
